The Perfect Paraffin Experience for Hands and Feet

Therapeutic Touch
In Therapeutic Touch(TT) the practitioner moves her hands through an individual's energy field to assess the field and facilitate a balancing of the field. Based on the ancient practice of laying on of hands, this technique was developed by Doris Krieger (in conjunction with the healer Dora Kunz). Premised in systems theory, the multidimensional nature of the person, and the homeostatic concept of balance and wholeness, this technique has been taught and researched by clinicians since the early 1970's. Several studies focus on the effectiveness of TT in dealing with stress or reducing anxiety ( or both). There was found to be a significant decrease in tension and headache pain in individuals who had received TT. Therapeutic Touch may also reduce postoperative depression and pain and improve quality of life.
One of features that make TT attractive as an intervention is that it does not require contact. In situations where a client's condition limits the ability to tolerate physical contact (i.e. burns), where the client may feel uncomfortable about being touched, ore where the client is in a high-tech area with many lines and tubes, TT may provide a viable adjunct to pharmacologic pain control.
